What can we do to help Haiti not only now but during the years to come? Let's all work together.

Haiti one of the poorest countries in the world, often forgotten by other nations, only known by its social conflicts, poor and too often political turmoil, is becoming a clear example of how technology can and should make a positive impact alleviating part of the agony and frustration of its people.

We now can see how Social Media sites seem to be particularly useful, especially for people looking for love ones lost in Haiti's capital. Mobile phones documenting the events as well as connecting resources, coordinating aid and even use it to find people missing in devastated buildings.

It is wonderful to witness how the Telecentre community is mobilizing resources and how people get together looking for ways to contribute to support those in great need in Haiti. It is great to see how even in difficult situations such this; we can see the true potential of technology put to work for a good purpose. That is one of the reasons because Telecentre must continue its much need it evolution into services that truly respond to people's needs. That is also why we must continue to close the gap between technology advances and those in need.

We must continue our work, educating, sharing knowledge and information, helping other to connect, becoming channels for human development.

The tragedy of Haiti will not end anytime soon. The size of the devastation is simple immeasurable, and the upcoming straggle of its people restoring theirs lives will take years.

I think we should all work together again using our vast talents and potential resources available for the Telecentre community, join forces and find a role for our global network in the long term project of rebuilding this nation. The work in Haiti it is long over due, we have to transform Haiti's tragedy into an opportunity for the telecentre community to exercise our talents, knowledge and information. So, let all be alert, share ideas, be proactive and help, today, tomorrow and for the many years that Haiti will need our attention.

Let's all brainstorm and share ideas of how to better help in the long run Haiti

Yes, we certainly need all the help we can.

I have posted a new post based .. and extracted as follows.

UNESCO had announced
“Education is at the core of Haiti’s recovery and is the key to Haiti’s development”
http://www.unesco.org/en/education/dynamic-content-single-view/news...

We are paperlesshomework.com has decided this is the moment we can really do something. Everyone of us.

We have on our own initiative, or as part of our global initiative , giving to all Haiti schools, kindergarten, universities, telecenters one complete free set of AGE Tools and contents http://www.paperlesshomework.com/work/win/main.htm

This is our commitment. However, they need more than one and others too may need them. We have started a one for one or zero for two initiatives to allow others to join in to this campaign. See our web site at www.paperlesshomework.com for more info.

We are only one. We need others in this world to help us spread the word, those who know how to contact those in Haiti/ or UNESCO these to Haiti to get the free software.

We can even give them through telecenter.org if there is someone willing to do so.

Meanwhile others who know any school wishing to get our Tools and contents for free , let them know and register online.

We have to act and not talk only.

We are a small ICT start up funded by the Malaysian government and now undergoing pilot project with the govt of Malaysia plus we have a good number of countries interested to use our solution.

We do not have the resources nor time to go to Haiti, but would love to have others to help us to help Haiti.

Regards
Alan
P/s: We do not sell contents but rather we are promoting our new platform called AGE. Others can use AGE to create any subject. We are only developing contents for English, Mathematics, Chinese Mandarin and anti smoking, anti drugs modules etc.

btw, anyone of you with web sites and want to generate great traffic and users, we can even allow our contents to be posted in your web site. This way you generate traffic and traffic means income plus commissions for sale of membership to AGE. Income means sustainabilities to your telecenters. Very simple. and would cost you nothing to do so.

Watch this video on you tube and in doing so you will contribute to helping Haitians that were affected by the disaster. Titled We Are The World 25 For Haiti, it was redone from the original version and just by watching you will be contributing to the course.
