As part of our Knowledge Sharing activities, telecentre.org is mobilizing the telecentre community to contribute to Wikipedia. Please join the Wikipedia group if you would like to join us in this effort. We plan to
Why Wikipedia? In the past, we had a custom wiki, but we decided to put our resources into contributing to because we believe in creating open, multilingual, sustainable resources. Wikipedia is also a familiar platform that many community members already use. telecentre.org can play a valuable role by consolidating knowledge from practitioners around the world — rather than duplicating efforts.
- Contribute to the telecentre page, adding what we learn from our Research and Content & Services initiatives
- Launch WikiProject: convene and coordinate working group, identify gaps, coordinate content and translation blitzes
- Establish Wikipedia Portal to promote content, encourage contributions, and link readers to external resources
- Publish publications, such as Making the Connection, as a WikiBook
- Identify practical content to add to the WikiBook How-to Bookshelf
