Networks give people managing grassroots telecentres the raw materials they need to succeed: training, support, marketing and technology. They also help them learn and innovate together so that they can put technology to use to develop the communities they serve. More broadly, networks strengthen the entire telecentre ecosystem — acting as connectors between key players as well as sustaining relationships among telecentre leaders, researchers, and development partners.
Through our social investment program, telecentre.org supports network activities in more than 70 countries that make networks, and the telecentres they work with, stronger, more sustainable and more numerous. These activities include:
Since our launch in 2005, telecentre.org has supported the creation, development and work of nearly 50 networks representing hundreds of thousands of telecentres on the ground. Through online networking opportunities and our investment in nearly 100 face-to-face events, we've gathered a community people and organizations from around the world who believe telecentres have an important role to play in development.
