About Me (biography and organization description)
I started my professional career at Kharkov State University, Ukraine as an Assistant Professor in 1993. I served as a Research Fellow, at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), a civil society think tank in Bangladesh, and contributed at Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) as an Associate Professor and Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) as a consultant.

At D.Net conducted research on access to information and knoweldge in the rural context. Trying to build D.Net as a leading research institution in the country and abroad.

The expertise in research on trade issues, particularly on trade in services is acknowledged at home and abroad.

One of the pioneers in research on social responsibility of business.

Led digital local content development movement in Bangladesh through Pallitathya initiative since 2003 for making ICTs relevant to the citizens of the country.

Completed MS in Economics (specialisation: Economic Cybernetics) in 1990 from Kharkov State University, Ukraine and was awarded Ph.D. in Economics in 1994 from V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics, National Academy of Science, Ukraine.

I was awarded the Ashoka Fellowship in 2004 in recognition of his contribution as a social innovator in the area of ICT for the rural community.

Currently the Secretary General of Bangladesh Telecentre Network (BTN), which aims to build up information and knowledge system for the poor and marginalsied by 2011 under its Mission 2011.
Areas of interest/expertise and types of services provided:
Research and idea generaion. Primary interest is in political economy, particularly, political economy of technology.

Diversified research interest also includes international trade, financial sector reform, corporate social responsibility and SME development.

ICTD 2009: Global Researchers Focusing on Grassroots Reality

The global conference on ICTD has started in Doha on April 17, 2009 with participation of more than 300 scholars from all across the world.
