About Me (biography and organization description)
I am an Information Manager by proffession and currently am based at Shinyalu Telecentre. Shinyalu Community Telecentre has been in esistence from the year 2006. It was started as a research project with an aim of empowering the smallholder through media strategies which include FM radio (set awaiting frequency allocation), wireless internet connection (up and running), Tv/ Video room, Community library and community press. All this services offered free courtesy of Commission of Higher Education Kenya, UNESCO and Masinde Muliro University.
Already the community can access internet for free and other services. We have lined up programmes and scripts awaiting frequency allocation which is in its last stages.
I Robinson Wikana and other volunteers are have identified issuess of interest to the community (herein used to mean the national and international issues) for sharing and testimonies. We identify information, repackage it and disseminate to the smallholder population for immediate us. the centre also hosts a demonstration farm for agricultural practises.
