'1,000 Ideas to Make Telecentres Work' Announcement for contributing stories to the book

As public access centres, telecentres are continuously experimenting with new ideas in the areas of content, services and technology to broaden their reach and also enhance their relevance and acceptability within the community. There are many such instances where telecentre leaders have used indigenous ideas to make their telecentres more responsive to the needs of the community being served along with making it economically sustainable for themselves.

Such telecentres and practices have the p… Continue

About Me (biography and organization description)
telecentre.org is a global community of people and organizations committed to increasing the social and economic impact of grassroots telecentres. Through our social investment program, we provide the resources that telecentres need to succeed: locally relevant content and services, support and learning opportunities, and networks that help telecentre activists connect to each other. With these things in hand, tens of thousands of telecentres will be in a better position to enrich the communities they serve. Learn more...
Areas of interest/expertise and types of services provided:
telecentre.org invests in networks and back-end service providers in order to develop a richer ecosystem where a diversity of interconnected players help each other succeed. We have five main areas of activity: (1) the telecentre.org Academy, which provides telecentre managers with ongoing training, capacity building, and professional development opportunities; (2) a Content & Services initiative that develops products and services that telecentres can offer to communities; (3) a series of Knowledge Sharing activities to support the widespread sharing of ideas, learning, and best practices; (4) Network Support services to help people come together to make telecentres more effective, sustainable, and valuable to the communities they serve; and a Research program that examines how telecentres impact social and economic development. In addition, we are available to provide advisory services to help policymakers and donors improve their programs, avoid common pitfalls, and make better decisions.

But telecentre.org is more than a program that offers services. We are a community that gathers people and organizations from around the world who believe that telecentres have an important role to play in development. And we'd like you to get involved.
