telecentre.org-Philippine Community eCenter Academy (tPCA) is now ready for the pilot run of the following courses for telecentre managers: 1 - Development Perspectives for CeC Managers; 2 - Practical Research for CeC Managers; 3 – CeC Management Level 1; and 4 – CeC Management Level 2. (
Check out course description)
The courses are geared towards the professionalization of telecentre (branded in the Philippines as Community eCenter or CeC) managers, and completion of each and every course will qualify a telecentre manager for a Certification in CeC Management under the tPCA.
The pilot courses will be conducted by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) in Manila on the following dates:
o Development Perspectives for CeC Managers – June 15-19, 2009
o Practical Research for CeC Managers – July 6-10, 2009
o CeC Management Level 1 – August 3-7, 2009
o CeC Management Level 2 – August 24-28, 2009
The Academy is now accepting applications for scholarship slots in the four pilot courses. Thirty slots are available for each course which is open to all Philippine telecentre managers or telecentre personnel who can potentially be a manager. Applicants must, however, be a member of the Philippine CeC Network (PhilCeCNet) upon submission of their scholarship application. Deadline for the submission of
scholarship application forms is on
June 1, 2009.
The above mentioned foundation courses seek to provide the groundwork for a deeper understanding of the telecentre and the telecentre manager’s strategic role on development; allow participants to get an overview of telecentre management functions and delve into the ecology of existing telecentres and the rudiments in handling telecentre products and services with emphasis on operations management, financial management, content management, project management for sustainability, and monitoring and evaluation; and engage the participants to focus on research process, methodologies and process appropriate for telecentre managers leading to a development of a proposal suited for telecentres.
While each course is not necessarily a pre-requisite of the other, only scholars with good performance in a particular course will be allowed to proceed to and avail of the scholarship in the next course.
