Telecentre community supporting reconstrution of Haiti in the long run... an opportunity to brainstorm about.

Haiti one of the poorest countries in the world, often forgotten by other nations, only known by its social conflicts, poor and too often political turmoil, is becoming a clear example of how technology can and should make a positive impact alleviating part of the agony and frustration of its people.

We now can see how Social Media sites seem to be particularly useful, especially for people looking for love ones lost in Haiti's capital. Mobile phones documenting the events as well as connecting resources, coordinating aid and even use it to find people missing in devastated buildings.

It is wonderful to witness how the Telecentre community is mobilizing resources and how people get together looking for ways to contribute to support those in great need in Haiti. It is great to see how even in difficult situations such this; we can see the true potential of technology put to work for a good purpose. That is one of the reasons because Telecentre must continue its much need it evolution into services that truly respond to people's needs. That is also why we must continue to close the gap between technology advances and those in need.

We must continue our work, educating, sharing knowledge and information, helping other to connect, becoming channels for human development.

The tragedy of Haiti will not end anytime soon. The size of the devastation is simple immeasurable, and the upcoming straggle of its people restoring theirs lives will take years.

I think we should all work together again using our vast talents and potential resources available for the Telecentre community, join forces and find a role for our global network in the long term project of rebuilding this nation. The work in Haiti it is long over due, we have to transform Haiti's tragedy into an opportunity for the telecentre community to exercise our talents, knowledge and information. So, let all be alert, share ideas, be proactive and help, today, tomorrow and for the many years that Haiti will need our attention.

Let's all brainstorm and share ideas of how to better help in the long run Haiti
